Moving Insurance Greensboro, NC

We always know that accidents can happen, no matter how many precautions our team of professional movers take during all of our moves. Home moving insurance is the best way to protect your valuables and belongings in the event of an accident. As required by law, Marathon Moving is fully licensed and insured. We take protecting your items seriously which is why we think about this during our hiring process. Anyone that applies for employment with Marathon Moving goes through a full background check and pre employment drug screen, as well as random screenings throughout the year. We are very picky about who we allow into our customers’ homes

Do I Need Moving Insurance?

Unbeknownst to many, it’s very likely your homeowners insurance or renters insurance doesn’t cover any damages or loss of possessions while your items are in transit. It is possible that you may have limited coverage, so we always recommend you consult with your insurance agent to determine what your homeowners or renters insurance will cover during a move.

You may be asking yourself, what is moving insurance? To clarify, moving insurance offers protection for your property if it is damaged or lost while in transport to your new home. However, as with any insurance, the details of what is covered will vary depending on your policy and can differ from every move.

How Do I Purchase Moving Insurance?

Do movers have insurance is probably one of our most common questions at Marathon Moving Company in Greensboro, NC. Full service moving companies are not insurance agents and therefore cannot sell insurance. However, we do offer the following moving insurance options, known as value protection, to add to your moving service:

  • Basic Value Protection (BVP) – Comes free with all moves made with Marathon Moving, regardless of the moving services you select. This may be referred to as Released Value Protection (RVP) by other moving insurance companies. We call it BVP because this is basic liability coverage required by federal law. This relocation insurance option values your furniture at 60 cents per pound if something is damaged. This means you most likely will not receive the full or current market value of the damaged or lost items. We recommend this coverage to customers who are moving locally and are moving mostly standard household goods, after all, damages are rare.
  • Full Value Protection (FVP) – This is our upgraded moving insurance plan and is also required by law. With full value protection moving insurance the customer declares the value of their belongings and selects which valuables to use FVP for at the beginning of the move. In case of a total loss or damages, this insurance plan will pay the current market replacement value of your item so you can repair or replace it. We recommend the upgraded coverage to individuals or families moving long-distance, or if you are moving highly valuable or irreplaceable items. If you require additional coverage, ask us what third party moving insurance companies we recommend.
